Rick Walsh works in the East Metro Fisheries office. He has a B.S. in Fisheries from the University of Minnesota and a M.S. in Fisheries from South Dakota State University where his research focused on fish habitat in the James River. Rick enjoys fishing and frequents many of the Kids Fishing Ponds during the summer with his family. He grew up in the Twin Cities and fished many of our local ponds and lakes as a kid. Rick's favorite FiN fishing lake is Spring Lake.

Mark Nemeth works in the West Metro Fisheries Office. He has B.S. degrees in Fisheries and Wildlife Management and Economics from the University of Minnesota and a M.S. in Biology from the Tennessee Technological University. His research there focused on the stocked and wild trout fishery in the South Fork of the Holston River. Before coming to Minnesota he worked as the Fishery Biologist for the White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation. During his spare time you will likely find him fishing streams and rivers or pursuing upland birds and waterfowl with his dog.

TJ DeBates, a native of Stewartville, MN, has worked for the MnDNR since May 2003. He received a B.S. degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Masters degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences (Fisheries Specialization) from South Dakota State University. His graduate research focused on predator-prey interactions of fishes in two Nebraska Sandhill lakes. TJ enjoys camping, canoeing, fly-tying and fly-fishing for anything that swims. He's particularly fond of southeastern Minnesota trout and the bronzebacks (smallmouth bass) of the upper Mississippi River.

Leah Weyandt works in the West Metro Fisheries Office. She grew up in Watertown, MN, got her B.S. degree in Aquatic Biology from St. Cloud State University and her M.S. degree in Marine Biology from Nova Southeastern University in Dania Beach, FL. Leah grew up fishing in Wright County and in her spare time you can find her teaching her nephews how to cast a fishing pole.
