CO Shawn Wichmann (Slayton) worked opening weekend of fishing opener. Opening weekend was busy with near perfect weather. Wichmann also assisted other local agencies calls with various calls.

CO Mason Bulthuis (Madison) saw a busy fishing opener as anglers flocked to the area. Bulthuis checked numerous anglers at popular shore fishing locations, as well as out on area lakes in watercraft. Bulthuis also spent time enforcing boat and water safety laws as many boaters hit the water for the first time this year.

CO Dallas Cornell (Ortonville) spent the week focused on sport fishing and boat and water safety. With fishing opener this last weekend, anglers were observed out on the water. The walleye bite was slow but did see some walleye in buckets and livewells. Enforcement action was taken for a variety of boating and angling violations.

CO Levi Brown (Benson) focused this week on ATV enforcement. During the weekend Brown saw a lot of fishing activity on the local lakes. Brown spent his time patrolling local lakes. Some reported luck on opening weekends for walleyes and others were not so fortunate.

CO Matt Loftness (Marshall) The MN Fishing Opener was even busier than normal with temps near 80 degrees and lighter winds. Walleye success was spotty, but anglers took advantage of the nice weather and focused on other species as well. Fishing, boating, and AIS enforcement were the main focuses over the opener weekend and the rest of the week. A CO Presentation was also given to a group of people at the Adult Community Center in Marshall.

CO Dustin Roemeling (Worthington) spent the week working angling and recreational vehicle enforcement. Continued follow-up investigations from prior hunting seasons. Anglers in the area enjoyed good success over the fishing opener weekend. Assistance was given to local agencies.
